Bras for Projected Breasts

Bras for Projected Breasts

Projected breasts extend farther from the chest (particularly when unsupported) and often have a narrower and/or shorter root. Projected breast shapes require bras with deeper cups and immediate projection (depth right at/above the wire) to avoid spillage, flattening, or wires slipping below the inframammary fold (IMF).

(We will be posting a more extensive, in-depth guide on breast shapes soon!)

This list includes bras frequently praised for accommodating projected shapes with details on fit. There're more, but these are the standout styles and great options to start with. Think of it like a primer or starting place for finding bras suited to your shape.

You can find a companion guide for shallow breasts HERE.

Hot tip: A good way to confirm if you have projected breasts is to try on a properly-sized projected-style bra and evaluate how it fits. If it does - you likely have projected breasts!

Tips for Choosing Bras for Projected Breasts

  • Prioritize Deep Cups: Look for bras with deep cups and immediate projection (e.g., seamed balconettes, plunges, or spacer foam). Avoid shallow, molded cups like Freya Deco, which can cause spillage.
  • Check Wire Width: Narrower wires suit projected breasts with smaller roots; wider wires may work for average roots but can cause empty space.
  • Consider Polish Brands: Ewa Michalak, Comexim, and Gorsenia are frequently recommended for their deep cups and narrow wires, especially for small bands and large cups.
  • Assess Fullness: Full-on-bottom breasts suit plunges or side-support bras; full-on-top breasts need open-top styles like balconettes.
  • Use the A Bra That Fits Calculator: Start with accurate measurements
  • Test for IMF Fit: Ensure wires sit in the IMF without slipping; spillage or riding down indicates insufficient projection.
  • Consider Nipple Coverage: For t-shirt bras, try spacer foam (e.g., Panache Cari) or silicone nipple covers to avoid visible nipples without heavy padding.
